0Game On! Finally
During this time of of the year most of the country’s seasons are winding down, and others are gearing up for the beginning of the snowkite season. However in South Florida October brings us the beginning of our windy season, and usually the first of our Nor’easter cold fronts. Usually August and September can be pretty windless and hot – that is unless we get a tropical system. Most of us seem to complain every year that the season starts later or it was windier 10 years ago.. blah, blah, blah… Well, it might be true, but things always seem better in the past.
However, all I really care about it is getting out there when the wind finally does start blowing hard from the NorthEast and it finally did this past week. I got two days of really nice open ocean wave sailing this past week on my skimmy and my 8. It was great to finally get out in some waves and hit some lips. Especially, after seeing all your posts of great pictures riding in waves.
Every session that I ride in waves with my skimboard I am more and more challeged to get better. Just to hit an off the lip or execute a good bottom turn is such an acheivement that it keeps me coming back for more. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy hitting the waves with my strapless S-Quad – I definitely do. In fact, I think that it is making my surfboard riding that much better because when you hit the waves with a skimmy it makes you very concious of proper kite handling, body position, and working your board rail to rail.
Hopefully, I will be doing plenty more blog posts in the very near future! Guess what the forecast is for tomorrow? NE @ 20! Yeah! We should have some neat stuff happening on LTS this season. Stay tuned…and rip it strapless!
